    Fuel Buy Down

    Family Life Assembly of God (FLAG) will have a Fuel Buy Down from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Bo’s One Stop, located at the intersection of US Highway 69 and West Fourth.

    Fuel Buy Down
    Family Life Assembly of God (FLAG) will have a Fuel Buy Down from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Bo’s One Stop, located at the intersection of US Highway 69 and West Fourth.
    Unleaded gasoline will be 50 cents lower than the normal price during this time. The FLAG congregation will lower the price 25 cents per gallon and an anonymous donor will lower it an additional 25 cents per gallon. There will be a limit of 10 gallons per vehicle.
    FLAG members will be on hand to wash windshields, pump gas and direct traffic.
    “This is a great way to communicate God’s love in a practical way,” said Pastor Mark Lehman. “It’s a blessing to practice on Sunday afternoon what we heard on Sunday morning.”

    St. Joseph’s Table
    SCAMMON — St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, Scammon, will have an Italian dinner in conjunction with its St. Joseph’s Table celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the church’s Faith and Family Center.
    Price of the full meal, open to the public, will be $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Those 5 and younger will eat free.
    Menu for this special ethnic occasion will feature spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna , seafood shells, polenta with sauce, gnocci, breads, Italian sausage and stuffed cabbage. Salads and desserts will also be available.
    There are generally three levels of the table to honor the Holy Trinity and the Holy Family of Jesus, Joseph and Mary.
    The table is covered with flowers, votive candles and lace tablecloths with breads baked in shapes to represent Jesus’ crown of thorns, the Cross, Joseph’s cane and the Sacred Heart. There are platters of sweets as well as cakes shaped like lambs, Bibles, crosses and angels, as well as pastries and other delicacies.
    The baked goods on the Scammon St. Joseph’s Table will be available for purchase.
    Arcadia luncheon
    ARCADIA — A St. Patrick’s Day luncheon will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Arcadia Community Center.
    Menu will feature chili or vegetable soup, homemade pie and beverage for a $5 donation. Carry-outs will be available.
    Proceeds from the event will help fund the 2013 Arcadia Old Settlers Festival.
    Country Music Show
    FORT SCOTT — Fort Scott Country Music Show will be presented at 2 p.m. at the Fort Scott Memorial Hall.
    Special guest will be Rachel Center, a regular performer on “Kelly’s Country Junction” TV show. Andy Oberg will be on keyboard through May 5, and Kelly Jones will fill in for Ernie Reed on fiddle.
    Page 2 of 2 - Featured will be the Swingin’ West Band, with Dewayne Bowman, guitar and vocalist, Ginelle Esry, vocalist, Scotty Henderson, steel guitar and vocalist, Ronnie Blecher on drums, Randy Vanderpool, bass guitar and vocalist and Jason Richison, sound system, guitar and vocalist.
    Admission is $12. Persons 15 and younger will be admitted free.
    Art reception
    COLUMBUS — Pittsburg artists Al Letner, Rod Dutton and Phil Dellasega will be exhibiting their work at the Maple UnCommon Hotel and Gallery, 120 E. Maple, Columbus.
    A public opening reception will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
    Chicopee Foundation
    CHICOPEE — The 19th annual membership meeting of the Chicopee Foundation will be held at 5 p.m. in the chapel of the Chicopee Community Center.
    Following the meeting, the foundation will provide a chicken dinner in the basement hall. The meeting and dinner will be open to all foundation members. Memberships will be available at the meeting.
