  • Cooperation by several law enforcement agencies led to a methamphetamine bust in Weir on Wednesday.
Bengamin Burdick and Crystal Costner were arrested in the bust. They are expected to be charged with the following drug-related offenses: manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of meth, possession of felony drug paraphernalia, conspiracy to manufacture meth, possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and distribution of meth.
Two children at the residence were placed in protective custody. A third suspect may be charged in the case.
The bust is a result of cooperation between the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Weir Police Department, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Pittsburg Police Department. At 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, officers executed a search warrant at the Costner home in Weir. Officers found  “a methamphetamine lab, methamphetamine, scales and Baggies used to package” and sell meth.
“This is a prime example of how effective multiple agencies working together affect the criminal offenders and their operations,” stated Cherokee County Undersheriff Kent Soucy.
