Several area youth tracksters took part in the 2009 Hershey Kansas State Meet in Hutchinson last weekend.
On the boys’ side, Pittsburg’s Elijah Harris won the 9-10 10-meter dash in 7.67 seconds while Cherokee’s Ryan Hughes finished 19th overall in 9.08.
Harris also finished first in the 9-10 100-meter dash in 15.28.
In the 9-10 200-meter dash, Franklin’s Josiah Thomason was 11th in 37.16 while Camden McFarland, of Girard, was 12th in 37.26. Shane Redfern, of Girard, finished 16th in the 400 with a time of 1:22.92 while the team of Ethan Goff, Thomason, Will Rasnic and McFarland finished third in the 4x400 relay in 1:06.79 and Jordan Bartley, Ryan Hughes, Danny Mosier and Braven Born was fourth in 1:08.71.
Mosier placed third in the standing long jump with a leap of 6-feet-2 and Bartley was 13th in 5-7.
In the 11-12 boys division, Josh Hudiburg of Fort Scott, finished 18th in the 100 in 17.10.
Laike Damman, of Girard, placed fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:11.72 and Frontenac’s Eian Monsour was 12th in 1:20.80, just ahead of Girard’s Eric Wilson, who was 13th in 1:20.96.
Damman placed fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:59.81 and Girard’s Eric Wilson placed ninth in the standing long jump in 6-0.5. Hudiburg won the softball throw in 165-8.5 and Fort Scott’s Kaleb De La Torre was third in 159-7.
Pittsburg’s Joshua Allmon finished ninth in the 13-14 100 with a time of 13.86 and was 10th in the 200 in 28.83.
For the girls, Girard’s Jaylynn Blythe finished fifth in the 9-10 50-meter dash in 8.16 and Pittsburg’s Kayla Meyer was sixth in 8.23.
Frontenac’s Alivia Bridwell finished ninth in 8.57. But, Bridwell did come back to finish eighth in the 100 in 16.96 while Blythe was 16th in 17.43.
Meyer was fifth in the standing long jump with a distance of 5-8. Elexia Palmer of Pittsburg was ninth in the softball throw with a throw of 75-0 and Ilyanna Knopp of Girard was right behind Palmer in 10th in 70-4.75.
Girard’s Logan Erickson won the 11-12 100-meter dash with a time of 14.66 and Frontenac’s Kersee Cumiskey was 24th in 17.36.
Hannah Stover, of Frontenac, placed 16th in the 200 with a time of 35.29 and Scammon’s Kelsey Jones finished 14th in the 400 with a time of 1:23.56.
In the 800, Franklin’s Schyler Nepote placed fifth with a time of 3:01.52 and Stover was 14th in 3:37.07.
The 4x100 relay team of Erickson, Alixandra Beezley, Nepote and Daityn Kelly won the event in 57.74. Erickson finished third in the standing long jump in 6-7 while Nepote was second in the softball throw in 123-10.25 and Cumiskey was 12th in 93-10.5.
In the girls’ 13-15 division, Scammon’s Kylie Jones finished second in the 100 in 14.22 and Walnut’s Savannah Smith was third in 14.23. Jones finished second in the 200 in 29.31 and Smith was fifth in 29.98.
Pittsburg’s Emani Sipple placed seventh in the 800 in 3:16.71 and third in the 1,600 in 7:35.65.
Brianna Maxwell, of Pittsburg, won the softball throw with a distance of 163-7 and Jones was second in 146-1 while Smith placed eighth in 107.3.
