    Sunflower Kiwanis


    Sunflower Kiwanis Club will meet at 6:45 a.m. for breakfast in dePaul Hall, Via Christi Hospital.

    Spencer Bernhardt will be introduced during the business session as recipient of the 2013-2014 Sunflower Kiwanis  Pittsburg State University Scholarship Grant.

    Sunflower Kiwanis
    Sunflower Kiwanis Club will meet at 6:45 a.m. for breakfast in dePaul Hall, Via Christi Hospital.
    Spencer Bernhardt will be introduced during the business session as recipient of the 2013-2014 Sunflower Kiwanis  Pittsburg State University Scholarship Grant.
    Program will be presented by the Kansas Kiwanis Gov. Mary Hammond, Hays. John Shields, Iola, Kansas Kiwanis lieutenant governor for District 3, will also visit.
    Rotary Club
    Pittsburg Rotary Club will meet at noon in dePaul Hall, Via Christi Hospital.
    Mike Hart will give the invocation, and Craig Fuchs will serve as song leader. Andy Meyers will have introductions, and sergeant at arms will be Jeff Elliott.
    PPL computer class
    Pittsburg Public Library will offer a free public computer class on using Google to  search the Internet from 2 to 3:30 p.m.  in the PPL computer lab. No registration or sign-up is required.
    Book discussion
    Pittsburg Public Library will have its monthly book discussion at 6:30 p.m. at the library.
    Topic will be “Slow Love: How I Lost My Job, Put on My Pajamas and Found Happiness” by Dominique Browning. The library will be celebrating “Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day,” so those attending are encouraged to wear their sleepwear and/or robes to the discussion.
    Copies of the May 21 book, “Then We Came to the End” by Joshua Ferris, will be available.
    Humane Society volunteers
    Southeast Kansas Humane Society will host a volunteer information session at 6:30 p.m. in the Pittsburg Salvation Army meeting room.
    All volunteer opportunities will be discussed. These range from sorting clothing at the Doggie Bag resale shop operated by the society to stuffing envelopes for SEK Humane Society mailings  and walking dogs at the society’s animal shelter.
    The society, which receives no tax money, relies heavily on community volunteers to keep the organization operating.
    Elks bingo
    Pittsburg Elks Lodge will host bingo night, open to the public. Mini games start at 6 p.m., followed by regular games at 6:30 p.m.
    Super progressive is $834 and cake progressive is $193. Pull tabs are available that pay up to $250.
    ARMA TOPS
    ARMA — The ARMA TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays.
    Chapter meetings include private weigh-in, information on good nutrition, educational programs and moral support and encouragement to help members reach their weight loss goals.
