Pittsburg Wrestling Club grapplers Brett Bober and Tanner Hitchcock brought home first-place medals from last week’s Diamond (Mo.) Open tournament.

Pittsburg Wrestling Club grapplers Brett Bober and Tanner Hitchcock brought home first-place medals from last week’s Diamond (Mo.) Open tournament.


Bober finished with a 3-0 record in the 8 and under  65-pound A division to place first and Hitchcock went 2-0 in the 10 and under 55-pound weight class to win the division.


The week prior, Bober went 4-0 and placed first in the same division at the Emporia Open.


Ben Brinegar finished 2-1 in the 8 and under 55-pound division to place third and Brett Lewis was 1-2 in the 8 and under 65-pound B division to earn third place.


Brett Cobb placed third at 12 and under 80 pounds with a 2-2 mark while Brett Freeman went 2-3 in the 8 and under 50-pound division to finish fourth.


The next day, PWC wrestlers competed in the Diamond (Mo.) Novice tournament.


Conner Oliveria went undefeated at 3-0 and placed first in the 6 and under 45-pound weight class.


Ryder Worrell went 2-0 to place first in the 6 and under 55-pound division. At 8 and under 50 pounds A bracket, Freeman went 3-0 to take first and Brett Lewis was 3-0 at 8 and under 65 pounds to place first.


Gianni Piccini was 2-1 in the 6 and under 40-pound A bracket to finish second. Cade McConnell (6 under 50 pounds B), Garon Worrell (8 under 50 pounds B) and Drew Baker (8 under 85 pounds) all finished with one loss and took second.


Braden Lewis (6 under 50 pounds A), Garrett Bollinger (8 under 85 pounds), Bally Sherman (10 under 90 pounds) and Vince Geier (12 under 125 pounds) all placed third in their respective classes.


Brandon Freeman (6 under 40 pounds B), Channing Massey (8 under 60 pounds A), Trevor Graham (8 under 60 pounds B) and Willy Johns (12 under 100 pounds) all finished fourth.
