  • Joseph W. “Joe” Vincent, Sr., 83, of Stark, died late Sunday morning at his home.

  • Joseph W. “Joe” Vincent, Sr., 83, of Stark, died late Sunday morning at his home.  He had been in failing health, but his death was unexpected.  
    He was born on December 18, 1929 at South Mound, KS to William Thomas and Rose Jane (Heck) Vincent.  He grew up in South Mound, Erie, and Stark.  He attended Erie and Stark schools.
    He worked in road construction for Dearfield Oil, Consolidated Oil, and for Smith Brothers for more than 42 years in Stark until he retired. After retirement he worked for Steve Shephard and Elmer Vanderford.
    He and Mary Louise Kelsey were married on February 2, 1952 at Stark; she survives of the home.
    Joe loved to be out on a ranch and living his life as a cowboy and was affectionately known as “Wrangler Joe.” He loved his family very much and cherished spending time with them, especially his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed gardening and sharing its produce, namely watermelon and cantaloupe.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, David Lee Vincent and life partner Ken Cascio of Alvarado, TX, Joseph William Vincent, Jr. and wife Libby of Erie, James Edward “Eddie” Vincent and wife Jacque of Walnut, Patrick Gene “Pat” Vincent and wife Ronnette of Hiatville; six daughters, Darla Jo Housner of Glendale, AZ, Deliah Jean Zandler and husband Chuck of St. Paul, Loretta Ann King and Leon Powers of Stark, Penny Danette Harris and husband Greg of Hepler, Rose Mary Fox and husband Lee of Chanute, and Carla Sue Robinson of Stark; 21 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; one brother, Richard Vincent of Weir; and one sister, Lucy Geig of Chesterfield, MO., and sister-in-law Dixie Vincent.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Johnny Vincent and Ralph Donald Vincent, and one sister, Claire Tonte, and three son-in-laws, Herb Housner, Dave King, and Brett Robinson.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Erie.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery near Savonburg.  Friends may call the funeral home after  9 a.m. Thursday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 Thursday evening.  Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association and these may be left at 112 N. 26th or P.O.
