The Pittsburg High School Multigenerational Choir Program,  under the direction of Susan Laushman, PHS vocal music teacher, will begin a new season in September.
Community members who enjoy  singing and working with youth will attend vocal music classes two mornings a week and prepare a wide variety of choral repertoire to present to the public. The season runs Sept. 2 through Nov. 24.
The program began six years ago with invitations to community women to participate, and was expanded two years ago to include community men. In addition to the separate men and women choruses, the two groups combine for the closing selections of their concert. The Multigenerational Choir has received both state and  national recognition for the unique program.
Pittsburg Multigenerational Choirs will participate in two concerts this fall. Collaborations with the PSU Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Craig Fuchs, and Southeast Kansas Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Raul Mungia, will highlight the events.
