Pittsburg State junior Levi Copelin — a University of Missouri transfer — was selected as the MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday following his efforts in the Gorillas’ 56-28 win over Lindenwood last Saturday.

Copelin had a pair of blocked punts, recovering both, with one of them going for a touchdown. Copelin’s blocks led to 14 points for the Gorillas, changing the tide of the game.

The first punt block came with the game tied at 14-all in the second quarter and was the first forced punt by the PSU defense of the game.

After breaking through the line to get a hand on the ball, Copelin corralled it at the 2-yard line.

Pitt State running back Jeff Seybold later went over the top the goal line for the touchdown.

Copelin added his second punt block later in the second quarter and scooped it up at the 16-yard line and took it in the end zone to extend the Gorillas lead to 35-14 with 1:53 to play in the half.
