GIRARD — The county will pay less for insurance in 2016, according to the county's insurance agent.

Ray Ryan, of Ryan Insurance Agency, told the Crawford County Commission total premiums this year will be approximately $413,000, down from about $460,000 last year. Better risk management and training have contributed to the changes, he said.

Commissioners also approved a new housing development on the 3300 block of East 20th by JEB Developers LLC.

Additionally, commissioners approved the transfer of $42,000 from the general fund to the risk management fund to cover health claims.

In other business, the commission:

• Signed a resolution appointing Kathy Flora to the Crawford County Planning and Zoning Board and the Joint Board of appeals, and:

• Signed a resolution appointing Gary R. Edwards to the Crawford County Planning and Zoning Board and the Joint Board of appeals.

The commission will next meet 10 a.m. Tuesday in the commission chambers of the Crawford County County Courthouse in Girard.
