The Chicopee Card Games will meet from 12:30-3:30 p.m. at the Chicopee community center.

 

Elk's Lodge Bingo

Bingo will be held at the Elk's Lodge, 2312 W. 4th in Pittsburg, starting at 6:15 with mini games. It will be followed by regular games at 6:30. Super progressive and blackout progressive will be played and Bingo event tickets and pull tabs also are available.

 

Weight Watchers

The Arma Golden Era Club meets the second Wednesday of every month at 1:30 p.m. at the Golden Era in Arma. All area senior citizens may attend.

 

Crawford County AARP 646

The Crawford County AARP Chapter 646 meets the second Wednesday of each month at the Homer Cole Community Center on N. Joplin. Our programs are timely and helpful, not only for the members, but for the community. There is coffee and cookies prior to the 9:30 a.m. meeting. The public is always welcome to join us.

Pittsburg Noon Kiwanis

The Pittsburg Noon Kiwanis meets every Thursday at noon in the dePaul Hall at Via Christi Hospital. Johnna Norton, executive director of the Mount Carmel Foundation will give an update about purchases, funds and programs.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) 0884 meetings are held each Thursday at Knights of Columbus Towers, 700 N. Pine. Private weigh-ins begin at 9 a.m. Business meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. Each week, a program is presented for support and motivation for members to reach and maintain their weight-loss goals. Frontenac American Legion conducts bingo games every Thursday evening at the Frontenac Senior Citizen Center located at 113 N. Crawford in Frontenac. Cards go on sale at 5:30 p.m. and play begins at 6:30 p.m.

Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas

Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas, the first Medicare Benefits Enrollment Center in Kansas, will have Benefits Enrollment Counselors available at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 100 S. Cherokee in Frontenac every second Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to answer questions, review your situation and help determine what other programs for which you may qualify. There is absolutely no cost for the service as the expense is covered by the National Council on Aging. Call the Benefits Enrollment Center at 620-240-5601 to set up an appointment or for more information.

SEK Recycling Center

The center will host a E-Waste event from 9 a.m. ato 5 p.m. These types of electronics include: Computers, Stereos, Flat-screen TVs, Monitors, Microwaves, and household appliances. There is a $5 fee for disposal of tube-style TVs and monitors.

Pittsburg American Legion Bingo

The Pittsburg American Legion will host bingo every Friday at the legion home. Doors open at 5 p.m. Early bird games are at 6:20 p.m. and regular bingo is at 6:30 p.m.

 

Senior Citizens Club

The Senior Citizens Club will meet at Lincoln Center. For more information, call Pittsburg Parks and Recreation. Anyone ages 50 and older are invited to attend club meetings. Dues are $0.50 per meeting. Bingo is $0.25 per card. Anyone is welcome and not required to attend all meetings. For more information, call the Parks and Recreations office at 231-8310.

PPRD Pageant & Prom event

Pittsburg Parks & Recreation department will be hosting a Pageant & Prom Resale event on Saturday, Jan. 16 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Lincoln Center, 710 W. 9th. This event will include pageant, prom, and formal wear for both men and women. This event is free for buyers to attend. Spaces are now available for those interested in selling their formal wear dresses and tuxes along with other formal wear accessories. PPRD will provide and 8 foot rack, table and facility for sellers for $20. Registration is required for sellers; no onsite/day of registration. The VFW Ladies Auxiliary will have their regular meeting on the second Saturday of every month at 9:30 a.m. at the post home. President Effie Toney will preside over the meeting.
