GIRARD — The Crawford County Commission took care of first of the year business Friday, reorganizing and other yearly housekeeping tasks.

Commissioner Tom Moody was named commission chairman, and former chairman Carl Wood was named vice-chair. Commissioner Jeff Murphy said because he was only in the second year of his first term, he did not feel comfortable accepting the post of vice-chairman.

Additionally, the county appointed Girard National Bank, Exchange State Bank and First National Bank of Girard as the official working banks for the county.

Also, the commission named The Morning Sun as official county newspaper.

The commission also discussed problems with the court house heating system, but no decisions were made.

The Crawford County Courthouse will be closed Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Day, and the commission will next meet 10 a.m. Friday, in the courthouse commission chambers in Girard.
