PITTSBURG — Riding on a jet ski may not be the typical idea of a fun time at this time of year in Pittsburg.

But having that thrilling experience indoors in a warm environment on a jet ski simulator is a distinct possibility Saturday and Sunday at Meadowbrook Mall during Albers Marine 10th Annual Fishing and Hunting Show, according to Rose Ann Smith with the Arma marine dealership.

"It's all free," Smith said. The show aims to provide something for outdoor enthusiasts — from little tykes to seasoned hunters and fishers.

"There will be a kids' casting demonstration," Smith said. A variety of long-time vendors at the show will be joined by several new ones this year providing a variety of information, she said.

"Mike Webb, professional with the Bass Pro Shop National Team for 20 years will be on hand," Smith said. Webb is scheduled to present a seminar at 1 p.m. Saturday.

"He'll have a lot of information and give-aways," she said. Nine new models of boats will be on display while vendors will display and explain fishing and hunting gear, meat processing, campers taxidermy and more, Smith said.

B.J. Harris, executive director of the Crawford County Convention and Visitor Bureau, said events like the fishing and hunting show are good for the region's economy.

"The show promotes the entire county and our hunting and fishing opportunities," Harris said.

Crawford County is a hot spot for outdoor sports and the show puts a focus on locations like Bone Creek Reservoir, Crawford County State Park north of Girard and the state's Mined Land Wildlife Area, he said.

"The state park we have is one of the best in the state while Bone Creek has developed into one of the best bass fishing lakes in the region," Harris said.

The show runs from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, Smith said.
