The Little Balkan’s Quilt Guild will hold a member open sew from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church at the corner of 6th and Pine Streets in Pittsburg. This is a time for you to help with community quilts, work on quilts of valor or your challenge, bring one of your projects to work on, get help with a quilting problem and just visit with other quilters. Albers Marine, Fishing and Hunting show

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Meadowbrook Mall, vendors will display new boats, fishing, hunting, archery and boating information. There will also be demonstrations. The event is free to the public.

 

Block Kids

Block Kids event will take place at in Room S102 of the PSU Kansas Technology Center. Free and open to the first 100 students in grades first through sixth, the event challenges kids to build, in one hour, a construction-industry-related project using building blocks.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) 0975, Girard, meets every Monday at 406 W. Antelope St. in Girard, KS. Private weigh-in will begin at 5 p.m. and end at 5:45 p.m. Meetings begin at 6 p.m. A support and motivational program is presented each week to encourage members to reach and maintain weight loss goals. Yoga Class

A yoga class will be conducted every Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Homer Cole Community Center located at 3003 N. Joplin St with a licensed yoga teacher. The class will offer flow style yoga, which is appropriate for all levels, including beginners. Bring your beautiful self, dressed in comfortable clothes, water and a yoga mat (a few extras will be on hand). The price is donation based, but $7 is recommended.

 

NAMI Southeast Kansas

The NAMI family support group and a NAMI connections group meet on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Pittsburg Presbyterian Church, 520 N. Pine.

 

American Legion Post 64

Pittsburg American Legion Post #64 will hold their meeting every third Monday of each month at 7pm. All members are encouraged to attend.

Arma American Legion Post #182

The legion has bingo open to the public. Doors open at 5 p.m. and games begin at 6:30 p.m. Blackout will pay out $375 for 53 numbers. If no bingos, $25 to the next week’s jackpot.

 

PEO Chapter AQ

The library will have it monthly book discussion over “Secrets of a Charmed Life” by Susan Meissner.  Participants are not required to read the book prior to the meeting but it is recommended. Pittsburg State University

Delia Lister, director of Pittsburg State University's Nature Reach, will give a presentation at the Sperry-Galligar Audubon meeting at 7:00 P.M., Room 102, PSU's Yates Hall, 1702 S. Joplin St., Pittsburg, KS.  Lister will talk about the inter working of the PSU Nature Reach program including its 30 year history. Subsequent, the audience is invited for an informal tour of the Nature Reach room on the 3rd floor of the adjacent Heckert-Wells Hall. SGAS meetings are free and open to the public. Free refreshments.
