Celebrate Kansas Day
It’s our state’s 155th birthday, and elementary schools around the area are noting the event with a variety of celebrations, including Just Imagine, Kansas at Lakeside Elementary, as well as an event at 1:30 p.m. at Frontenac Elementary School. Throwing an informal party at home also is a great option.
Pittsburg Area Young Professionals
The Pittsburg Area Young Professionals will kick off 2016 with a membership event from 5-8 p.m. at Gusano’s, 200 E. Centennial Dr. Food and one free drink are provided, and the event offers a great opportunity to meet, mingle and prepare for a year of service, social and other opportunities.
Make A Wish
Lily Clarke, a 7-year-old Pitt State fan with a congenital heart condition, is the recipient of a Make-A-Wish trip and will find out details at the home Pittsburg State basketball games Saturday against Northwest Missouri. Audience members are asked to dress as though they are attending a Broadway show and play paparazzi.
The popular event is back and bigger than ever as the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish celebrates 100 continuous years of Catholic Education. Five crews, including priests, will compete for bragging rights beginning at 7 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Colgan Fieldhouse. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for children or $25 for families.
