VFW 1158

VFW Post 1158 holds meetings on the fourth Saturday of the month at 9 a.m. at 3204 N. Michigan.



Teams will compete in the FLL Championship Tournament at Greenbush. Opening ceremony starts at 11:30 a.m.


Make A Wish

The Pittsburg State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be hosting a Make-A-Wish Wish Celebration Day for Lily Clarke at its basketball games on Saturday against Northwest Missouri. The event will occur between the mens and womens game. The Gorillas are asking that all fans coming to the game dressed up as if they were going to a Broadway show, in honor of Lily and her Wish Celebration Day.

TOPS 0599 (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Monday at St. Mary’s Grade School located at 301 E. 9th. Private weigh-ins are from 5:30 to 6:20 p.m. Meetings start at 6:30 p.m. and are designed to provide motivation and support to help members reach their weight loss goals. Visitors are always welcome. TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) 0975, Girard, meets every Monday at 406 W. Antelope St. in Girard, KS. Private weigh-in will begin at 5 p.m. and end at 5:45 p.m. Meetings begin at 6 p.m. A support and motivational program is presented each week to encourage members to reach and maintain weight loss goals. Yoga Class

A yoga class will be conducted every Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Homer Cole Community Center located at 3003 N. Joplin St with a licensed yoga teacher. The class will offer flow style yoga, which is appropriate for all levels, including beginners. Bring your beautiful self, dressed in comfortable clothes, water and a yoga mat (a few extras will be on hand). The price is donation based, but $7 is recommended.


NAMI Southeast Kansas

The NAMI family support group and a NAMI connections group meet on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Pittsburg Presbyterian Church, 520 N. Pine.


American Legion Post 64

Pittsburg American Legion Post #64 will hold their meeting every third Monday of each month at 7pm. All members are encouraged to attend.

P.E.O Chapter IO

The chapter will meet 9:30 a.m. at 1302 Bitner Drive. Kathy Gariglietti and Jackie Casey will be hostesses. The program will be Pat Jones, Chapter CJ International Convention Report.

Arma American Legion Bingo

Arma American Legion will host bingo open to the public. Doors open at 5 p.m. and games begin at 6:30 p.m. Blackout will pay $400 for 54 numbers in no one wins then $25 to next week.


Sunflower Kiwanis

The Sunflower Kiwanis will meet for their weekly meeting at 6:45 a.m. for breakfast in dePaul Hall at Via Christi Hospital.


Pittsburg Public Library

Children are invited to listen to a story (or two) and make a craft at 6:30 p.m.

Alpha Kappa Chapter Phi You Omega Sorority

The Sorority will have their monthly business meeting from 6:30 p.m. at the home of Carol Luckett with Kathy Shaffer as co-hostess. Members will discuss the upcoming founders day which will be March 5 and the Alpha Kappa will be the hostessess. Any member unable to attend the next meeting please contact one of the hostessess.


Liberal Ladies Who Lunch

The group will meet noon at the Public Library.  Bring your own lunch and any topics you wish to discuss.  Any women interested in progressive issues is welcome to attend.
