The Pittsburg Noon Rotary will host Rocktoberfest on Saturday at the Lincoln Park Band Dome. Rocktoberfest will feature music from local bands including The Band DeLorean, Shane Duling Band, Smoot Mahuti and more. Vendors will serve German food and beer. There will be a beer tasting for attendees 21 years of age and older. Admission is $10 per person, children 12 and under get in for free. All proceeds will benefit the Lord’s Diner. The event starts at 4 p.m. and runs until 10:30 p.m.
Petsense in Pittsburg will bring several area animal rescue organizations together Saturday and Sunday. The Petsense Adopt-a-thon takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Petsense store in Pittsburg. Visitors can view pets and each adoption will include a goodie bag with accessories and a bag of dog food. Costs will vary based on the organization the animal comes from.
The 63rd Annual Girard Homecoming kicks off this Friday with a public pep rally on the square at 2 p.m. The pep rally leads up to a tailgate and the Girard Trojans football game against St. Mary’s Colgan. Saturday, Homecoming becomes a town-wide celebration. Events starting in the morning include a 5k and one-mile run at 7 a.m., as well as a pancake feed at the Girard High School cafeteria from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The parade on the square starts at 10 a.m. and will be immediately followed by a groundbreaking ceremony for the upcoming streetscape project. The rest of the day will feature lawn mower races, a car show, children’s games and more. The festivities come to a close with live piano music at the GHS Class of 1979 beer garden in the Marvin Green Building at the Crawford County Fairgrounds. Bingo Bash and Chili Feed
The Southeast Junior High PTO will be hosting a Bingo Bash & Chili Feed on Saturday, October 1 at SJHS. The event is a fundraiser for the PTO and will include cash prizes for bingo, chili, coneys, chili pie and raffles. In addition to theme baskets provided by each SJHS class, a granite firepit donated by Signature Granite will be raffled off. Bingo cards and raffle tickets will be for sale the night of the event, and you must be present to win. Tickets and food go on sale at 6 p.m. Bingo starts at 7 p.m.
PHS Performing Arts Flapjack Fundraiser
Pittsburg High School’s Performing Arts Program is hosting a flapjack fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help the performing arts program fund productions, trips to district and state competitions and other activities throughout the school year. The event takes place at Applebee’s in Pittsburg. The tickets are $5 a piece and can be purchased at the door or in advance from theater or Encore students.
