PITTSBURG — A local man led officers on a brief chase Thursday morning.

Patrick Murrah, 36, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, obstruction, driving without a valid driver’s license, and on three prior warrants — two in Crawford County and one in Jasper County, Missouri.

At approximately 10:08 a.m., while on routine patrol, a PPD officer observed Murrah driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier in the 700 block of N. Georgia Street. The officer recognized Murrah as having active arrest warrants and attempted to make a traffic stop.

Murrah failed to comply and led officers on a short pursuit. Murrah drove to Bo’s One Stop at the intersection of 4th Street and the U.S. Highway 69 Bypass, where he exited the vehicle and fled westbound across the bypass on foot.

The officer apprehended Murrah in a tree line located near the Radell Construction property, just west of the bypass.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing at this time. Anyone having information related to this incident, or other crimes, is urged to contact the Pittsburg Police Department at 620-231-1700, or at its tip line, 620-231-TIPS (8477). Callers may remain anonymous.
