Cajun Fest IV

Cajun Fest IV kicks off Saturday with an evening of authentic food, music and friends at the Crawford County Fairgrounds. The $25 admission includes access to food including jambalaya made by Chef David Eastridge, as well as Mardi Gras wings and crawfish. The admission also includes live music from the Shane Duling Band and Rocking Louisiana Fiddler Waylon Thibodeaux. All proceeds go to the USD 248 Education Foundation for a scholarship. Meal begins at 5:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at all four Girard banks or at the gate. Attendees should bring a beverage of their choice and a lawn chair.

Kav Fest

The second Kav Fest will honor the life of Maj. Brian Kavanagh with friends and family, as well as raising money for charity. The event takes place 7 p.m. Saturday at Frisco Event Center and will include a barbecue dinner, live music and a silent auction. Admission is $15 per person, $25 for couples. Members of the St. Mary’s Colgan class of 1997 will be admitted free, along with US service members and veterans. All proceeds from the evening will go to, which helps connect veterans and caregivers affected by PTSD with the proper resources.

Arma V-J Homecoming

The 71st Annual Arma V-J Homecoming offers an entire weekend full of events. Friday includes an Arma Northeast Alumni reunion at 6 p.m. at the Pittsburg Mirza Shrine Temple, carnival rides in Arma City Park, a cruise night and a horse pulling contest beginning at 8 p.m. behind the Arma City Pool. Saturday, both the homecoming parade and mud volleyball tournament begin at 10 a.m., followed by a homecoming dinner at 11 a.m. The day will include children’s games, adult competitions and end with a street dance at 8 p.m. downtown. Sunday includes a homecoming breakfast at 9 a.m., more games and tournaments and 71 cash and prize giveaways beginning at 8 p.m. in the grandstand area. Big Smitty Band

The Big Smitty Band is bringing its mixture of country, rock, and pop to the Bronco Bar stage at Kansas Crossing Casino Saturday. The band will perform a free show starting at 8 p.m. Must be 21 years of age to attend.

Dragon Golf Tourney

Pittsburg High School Football Alumni are hosting a four-man scramble tournament in support of PHS Dragon Football. The tournament begins with a shotgun start at noon Saturday at Countryside Golf Course. $70 to golf, which includes fees, cart, food and beverages.
