PITTSBURG — A Girard woman was bound over for trial on child abuse charges in Crawford County District Court, in Pittsburg, Tuesday.

Kayla Eve Large, 29, of Girard has been charged with aggravated child endangerment and child abuse. Depending upon her criminal history score, she faces 31 to 136 months for the child abuse charge and five to 17 months on the child endangerment charge for a potential total of 36 to 153 months in prison.

The charges stem from a June 2017 incident in which Large is alleged to have beaten and left bruises on her approximately eighteen month old child.

A Girard police officer who served as a witness took photos of the child and said the handprints appeared to belong to an adult. The witness said he did not take any measurements of the handprints.

District Judge Kurtis I. Loy said he found probable cause to believe that a crime had been committed that Large was the perpetrator, binding her over for trial.

Large is scheduled for arraignment and plea for 10 a.m. June 5.
