ST. JOSEPH — The Pittsburg State University Football team earned their second straight win in a 34-13 victory over Missouri Western State on Saturday.
After gaining over 400 yards rushing against Central Missouri last week, the Gorillas put forth more of a team effort in the other facets of the game against the Griffons.
Pitt State halfback Tucker Horak, fresh off of his breakout MIAA player-of-the-week performance, rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Horak was also involved in the passing game, catching a 28-yard touchdown reception from John Roderique.
Horak led the Gorillas in both rushing and receiving yards.
Lorenzo West countered a Missouri Western second half score by returning the ensuring kickoff for a 95-yard touchdown.
Roderique completed nine of 18 passes for 154 yards, including a passing and rushing touchdown, along with a interception.
PSU would take a 24-7 lead into halftime, but Griffon Shamar Griffith scored on a 9-yard rushing touchdown to cut into the deficit.
Pitt State would extend lead on the West kickoff return and a 32-yard Jared Vincent field goal.
