Bandits take 2nd place

The Crawford County Bandits 9-and-under single-A baseball team placed second in the upper division in a field of 24 A teams at the 2016 Hawaiian Hitfest, held at the MidAmerica West Sports Complex in Shawnee on May 21-22.

The Bandits went 4-1-1 and outscored their opponents 45-14, with four shutouts, on the way to their second-place finish. They defeated a team from Overland Park twice in the tournament which was ranked as the top team in the 9-and-under single-A Division, according to the USSSA. The Bandits are coached by Tom Westhoff, Chris Garzone and Kyle Burgess.

Sliders finish in 2nd place

The Pittsburg Sliders 10-and-under AAA baseball team placed second in the upper division of a field of 23 AAA teams at the 2016 Hawaiian Hitfest held at the Blue Valley Sports Complex in Overland Park on May 21-22.

The Sliders went 4-1 and outscored their opponents 46-19 on the way to their second-place finish. The Sliders are coached by Stu Jeck, Dylan Gromer and Luke Lee.
