PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State baseball team clawed back from a four-run deficit to force extra innings, but couldn’t complete the rally in the 6-5 loss to Washburn on Thursday at Al Ortolani Field.

After falling behind by four in the early going, Colton Pogue hit a RBI single, driving in Hunter Clanin to pull PSU within three.

Reece Garvie trimmed the deficit to one with a two-run homer in the third, followed by a run scored by Clanin to tie the game at 4-all.

The Ichabods responded with a run in the sixth, but Garvie came up big again for the Gorillas with a RBI single in the seventh to knot the score at 5-5.

Jake Bublitz was the hero in this one for the Ichabods, driving in Joel Spain for the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th.

PSU will take on Washburn at 2 p.m. Friday.
