CHEROKEE — The Cherokee-Southeast Lancers swept Yates Center 12-1 and 16-1 on Thursday, clinching the Three Rivers League title. The Lancers will host the upcoming 3A softball regional on Monday.
Game one Southeast 12, Yates Center 1
The Lancers opened game one with six runs. Southeast batted through their entire lineup in the opening frame.
Katie Bitner sparked the scoring in the frame with a two-run RBI double.
Megan Colvin, Traci Powers, Bitner, Laura Ridings, Liberty Gregory, and Wyntr Jacobs all scored in the inning.
Southeast would score two runs in the second inning, three in the third, and one in the fourth to secure the five inning win.
Renn went 2-for-3 with a triple and double in the game. Colvin finished with three hits.
Game two Southeast 16, Yates Center 1
Southeast batted through its lineup twice in the first inning, scoring 15 runs in the process. The Lancers secured the 16-1 win in only three innings.
Southeast have scored double digits in 20 of the 22 games played this season. Their only loss of the season came against Jayhawk Linn in April.
Cherokee-Southeast will look to keep their momentum rolling with the postseason on the horizon.
Southeast (17-1) will have a first round bye when the 3A regionals start on Monday. The Lancer will play the winner of Riverton and Neodesha on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
