CHANUTE — Pittsburg High School boys’ and girls’ track teams blew past the opposition in route to SEK championships at the SEK Championship Meet held in Chanute on Thursday. The girls’ scored 186 points, 83 points higher than second place Independence. Pittsburg boys’ scored 168.5 points.

McKenzie Wilks grabbed first place in the Girls’ 400m Dash, 800m Run and 1600m Run. Faith Turner took first place in the 100m and 200m Dash, along with first in the Long and Triple jumps. Laken Robinson finished in first in the High Jump, and teammate Vanessa Yaghmour was the medalist in the Pole Vault. Abbie Casper won first prize in the Javelin Throw, and Susana Canales grabbed first in the 300m Hurdles.

The Purple Dragons took first in the Girls’ 4x400m Relays.

In the Boys’ meet, Joel Kafka was the medalist in the Pole Vault, and teammate Reese Willis came in first place in the Shot Put. Dylan Jordan won the 200m Dash, Andres Arriola came in first in the 400m Dash, and Gumaro Rodriguez came out on top in the 300m Hurdles. Cade Southard grabbed first in the 1600m Run and Carlos Salas took the 800m Run crown.

Pittsburg Boys’ came in first in the 4x400m and 4x800m Relays.
