Mark Alan Thomas

Mark Alan Thomas, 69, Topeka, KS passed away April 7, 2023 in Topeka, KS.

Mark was born April 15, 1953 in Pittsburg, KS to Marshel James Wilkins

and Billie Constance "Connie" Wallace. He was later joined by a brother,

Matthew James.

Following his parents' divorce and Connie's subsequent marriage, Mark

and Matt were adopted by their stepfather, Larry Thomas, whom they

adored.

As a teen, he worked at the Playmore skating rink owned by his cousin,

Beryl Harris.

Mark graduated from Southeast High School in Cherokee County, KS. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Navy where he served as a Seaman Apprentice, Commissaryman Striker (CSSA) during the Vietnam Era. He also worked at KFC, Cremer Monument designing artwork for headstones, as well as painting water towers all over the US.

He could rival almost any professional out there with his skills on roller skates. He was an amazing artist, talented at anything he chose to do. He enjoyed fast cars, making balloon animals, and making people laugh.

Mark was married 4 times and has 4 sons, but the vagabond life lured him away from them, so they didn't get to know their dad well.

He was preceded in death by all his parents. He is survived by sons Brian Walters, Mark Stephenson, Jason and Aaron Thomas, as well as brother Matt (Karan) Thomas and half-siblings Diane (Donnie) Goins, Penny (Walt) Greenleaf, Dink (Rocky) Herring, Lisa Wilkins, and Vance (Kim) Wilkins, numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mark was buried in Section 69, Row 13, Site 77 at Leavenworth National Cemetery with full military honors under the direction of Davidson Funeral Home, Topeka, KS. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.
