Carl M. Cobb
Carl M. Cobb, 94, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on May 16, 2023, at his home in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Carl was born on February 9, 1929 to Robert and Mable S. (Cox) Cobb in Pittsburg, Kansas. He graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1948.
He married Dolores May Neptune on August 5, 1949, at the First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg, which they held membership. She preceded him in death on February 12, 2022.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954. Carl worked for Crestwood Country Club for 25 years and at Four Oaks Golf Course. He worked for Countryside Golf Course/Elks Country Club in the ‘70s. He was also a mail carrier for the Frontenac and Pittsburg Area for 30 years. He worked for Point Royal and Thousand Hills Golf Courses in Branson. Carl also broadcasted sports for KSEK as the voice of the Pittsburg Dragons.
He is survived by two daughters, Laura Buckalew of Pittsburg, KS and Cara Cobb of Pittsburg, KS; and five grandchildren Curtis Zollar (Cheyanne) of Lacyne, KS, Christopher Zollar (Sarah) of Eldora, IA, Eric Alcorn (Jennifer) of Parker, KS, Amber Longenecker (Aaron) of Hattiesburg, MS, and Jimi Cobb (Anthane) of Pittsburg, KS; he also had nine great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dolores (Cupcake), his parents, one daughter, Debbie McAlister, and four brothers, Luther Cobb, Harold Cobb, Charles Cobb, and Robert Cobb.
Memorial Services will be at 1:30 pm, Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the Fort Scott National Cemetery with Chaplain David Johnson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.
