Danny “Dan” Boggs

Danny “Dan” Boggs, 71, of Girard, KS. passed away at 11:10 a.m., Nov. 29, 2024, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO. Surrounded by family after a short battle with lung cancer. Dan was born Nov. 26, 1953, to Melvin “Corky” and Viola (Russell) Boggs. 

Dan attended grade school in Farlington and graduated from Girard High School in 1972. In his early career, Dan worked as a carpenter and then ended his working career at Heidrick’s True Value working alongside his colleague and lifelong friend Denny Heidrick. 

He was a member of the Farlington Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, working on lawn mowers, small engine repairs, and most of all hosting an annual 4th of July celebration for his family. 

He is survived by his brother, Ron (Reta) Boggs of Topeka, KS; sisters, Ramona (Richard) Murphy of Girard, KS and Anna (Dave) Groner of Farlington, KS, Dan is also survived by many nieces and nephews including Ryan (Jennifer) Boggs, Kristin (Dave) Miller, Rachel (Mike) Clayborne, Scott Murphy, Angela (JJ) Karlinger, Lisa Schossow, and Lori (Tyler) Oestreicher. He is survived by several great nieces and nephews including Wyatt, Alexis, Joel, Colin, Morgan, Aaden, Jaxten, Cash, Jacoby, Alijah, Tucker, Jada and Jensen. Dan is also survived by his close friend Tim (Kelci) Engle and their 2 children Nate and Anni who called him Grandpa Dan. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his great niece Mya Oestreicher. 

Services for Danny “Dan” Boggs will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. Burial will follow in the Farlington cemetery. Visitation will be at 1 p.m., one hour before the service.
