FRONTENAC, Kan. — A two-vehicle crash on U.S. 69 Highway Monday morning resulted in the death of Girard resident 21-year-old Matthew Westhoff-Strode, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The highway patrol reported that at approximately 7 a.m., a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 driven a 16-year-old male of Pittsburg, was traveling southbound on Highway 69.
The driver failed to stop at a red light at the 590th Avenue and Hwy. 69 intersection, colliding with a 2022 Kia Soul that was traveling eastbound on 590th. The Kia Soul Driver, Westhoff Strode, of Girard, sustained a fatal injury on scene.
The Dodge Ram driver did not report any injuries.
According to the highway patrol, the drivers were not wearing seatbelts.
