Harriett M. Neer, 87, of Pittsburg, passed away at 7:17 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, at Via Christi Village.
She was born on New Year's Day, Jan. 1, 1938, to Harry and Dollie (McVickers) Wintle. She graduated from Pittsburg High School and attended Kansas State Teachers College (now PSU).
She was married to Harry Robert Neer for forty years. She and Mr. Neer lived in Bella Vista for many years. Following his death on June 1, 2018, she returned to Pittsburg.
Mrs. Neer worked for Dr. Burke as an office assistant and secretary.
Harriett served as President of the denomination-wide board of the Episcopal Church Women’s (ECW) in 2006. She was very active nationally as well as locally with the Episcopal Church. Membership was held in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Pittsburg.
Survivors include two children, Curt Caldwell of Stafford, Missouri, and Maribeth Caldwell of Wichita; and a sister, Mary Wintle of Pittsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Chris Caldwell.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Pittsburg, with Fr. Ryan Willis officiating. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Mar 28, at Brenner Mortuary in Pittsburg, KS. The family suggests memorials be given to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
