Hattie Lois Gilmore, 85, of Pittsburg, left this life on Oct. 23, 2022. She joined the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Hattie was born on April 13, 1937, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Leon Vann and Susie Wrench.
She attended Fort Scott high school and proceeded on to earn a degree in nursing. From 1963 to 1968, Hattie worked as a nurse at the V.A. Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas. Hattie was a Medication and Orthopedic nurse for 20 years at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley, California.
On June 14, 1974, Hattie married the love of her life Carl Gilmore in Carson City, Nevada, with whom she had two sons.
Hattie followed the Lord's call to become a missionary in Texas and in Mexico. She and Carl spent 27 years volunteering with Daysprings Outreach Ministries. She attended the Lighthouse Tabernacle Church in Pittsburg. She was a member of the Kiwanis Club for three years and a volunteer for the Salvation Army since 1992.
Hattie is survived by her two sons, Keith L. Kerr and fiancée Pam of Kansas City, Kansas, and Michael Kerr Sr. and wife Carol of Pittsburg; two daughters, Arthetta Martin of Aurora, Colorado, and her fiancée Harrison McCallop of Fontana, Kansas, and Susan D. Wrench of San Antonio, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Susie Wrench; adopted father, Arthur Wrench; and grandmother, Hattie W. Jones.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, at the Lighthouse Tabernacle, 604 South 200th Street, Pittsburg, Kansas.
A private inurnment will be held at Ft. Scott National Cemetery.
