Jerry Wayne Babcock

Jerry Wayne Babcock of rural McCune, Kansas passed away peacefully in his home on May 20, 2023. Jerry Wayne was born January 24, 1958 in Barstow, CA. 

He is survived by his wife, Mary Victoria (Vicki) Babcock; his sons, Zackery Babcock (Ashley Babcock) of Joplin, MO and Adam Babcock (Rachel Fisher) of Pittsburg, KS; grandchildren, Kaydence Babcock, Maverick Babcock, and Ezra Babcock; his sisters, Ruth Dodson and Cindy Hisquierdo of Barstow, CA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces, and grandnephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Flora (Flo) Jane McCormick and Jack McCormick of Scammon, KS, and Jerry Babcock of San Diego, CA; his sister Arlene Favaregh of Washington, D.C.; and his nephew Noah Favaregh of Virginia. 

Jerry Wayne recently retired from the Southeast Kansas Recycling Center, where he was the operations manager. An avid outdoorsman, fisherman, and golfer, he started the annual SEK Recycling Center Golf Tournament held at Countryside Golf Course, where he was a member. Jerry Wayne served in the Navy from 1976 to 1979. Jerry Wayne loved his grandchildren and loved being a grandfather. He was known for being a San Diego/LA Chargers fan and could usually be found on the golf course or out fishing the pits. 

A celebration of life will be held from 5 to 8 pm at Countryside Golf Course, 469 E 520th Ave Pittsburg, KS, on Monday, the 5th of June, 2023. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donating to the SEK Recycling Center in Pittsburg, KS. Arrangements are under the direction of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Weir, KS.
