John W. Partin, II, 81, of St. Louis, Missouri, formerly of Pittsburg, passed away suddenly Monday, Nov. 28, 2022.
He was born May 1, 1941, in Pittsburg, the son of John W. I and Anne (Fox) Partin. He graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1959 and later received his Bachelor's degree.
Mr. Partin joined the U.S. Navy, where he served for 24 years, attaining the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. His service included tours during the Cuban blockade, Vietnam, the Iran hostage crisis, and even rescuing Vietnamese in the middle of the ocean.
Membership was held at the Benjamin Fuller American Legion Post No. 64, where he had been a member for over 50 years, and the 59ers Club in Pittsburg.
He is survived by his long-time companion, Linda Turnquist; his daughter, Kristina (Charlie) Immekus; three grandchildren, Kayla Duffy, Charley (Josh) Hedges, and Shaneesa Immekus; and his ex-wife, Mary Partin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Connie (Joe) Trebbe, Jo ("Swany") Swigart, and "Mike" Ridge.
A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary in St. Louis, Missouri. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Mark Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be provided by the U.S. Navy Funeral Detail. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
