Juvenile struck by vehicle

PITTSBURG, Kan. — A juvenile male was struck by a vehicle in Pittsburg Tuesday afternoon, according to the Pittsburg Police Department.  

Pittsburg PD reports that at 6:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 4th and Chesnutt streets. Upon arrival, Officers observed a juvenile male lying in the road and began life saving measures with the members of the Pittsburg Fire Department and the Crawford County EMS. 

The driver was traveling westbound on 4th Street when the juvenile entered the roadway near the exit of 4th Street Circle, according to the Pittsburg PD. The driver was unable to stop in time and struck the juvenile, before pulling to the side of the road.  

The juvenile was then transported via ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburg, where he was life flighted to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.  

There is no update to the juvenile’s medical condition at this time. The investigation into this incident is ongoing at this time.
