Larry Dean Fields

Larry Dean Fields, 78, local businessman and entrepreneur, of Pittsburg, passed away at 10:55 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Mercy Hospital.

He was born April 6, 1947, in Pittsburg, the son of John Henry and Margaret Eva (Hay) Fields. He graduated from Pittsburg High School and later from Rockhurst University in Kansas City.

Larry worked for Kansas City Southern Railroad, working from brakeman to Vice President of Operations, CEO for Texas Mexico Railroads before retiring. He started A Cleaners. Larry then opened the Frisco Freight Event Center and the Family Fun Depot.

Larry served as a City Commissioner for Pittsburg from 2019 until 2021.

On May 10, 2000, he was united in marriage to Sooki Kim in Miami, Oklahoma.

In addition to his wife, Sooki, he is survived by five children, Traci Askew (Chuck), Wesley Fields (Jennifer), Niki Farnsworth, Molly Sloop (J.P.) and Bobby Fields (Katherine); two brothers, Fred Fields (Linda) and Terry Fields; two sisters, Joyce Mishmash and Trish Victor; two sisters-in-laws, Marge Fields and Deanna Fields; twenty-one grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill, Tim, Bobby, Wayne, Mark, John, and Howard Fields and sisters Lavon Tompkins, June Dougherty, and Margaret Fossey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Frisco Freight Event Center. Private family burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Wesley House or Salvation Army, or the Lord's Diner.
