Leda Kimberly Lillo, 1, of Bloomington, Indiana, tragically passed away at 12:03 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis due to multiple health complications.

On Friday, Jan. 17, parents Kayla and Derek Lillo had to make the toughest and most selfless decision of their life. After a long, hard-fought battle, the two took Leda off her tracheostomy to let her body rest as she passed away peacefully multiple hours later, surrounded by her loving parents and the one-of-a-kind team at Riley Children’s Hospital.

From her mother’s arms to the arms of her loving Savior, Leda is at peace.

Sweet Leda entered this world at 9:36 a.m. on Nov. 11, 2023, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington, Indiana, born to Derek Lillo and Kayla Pyle-Lillo of Bloomington, Indiana.

Despite her setbacks and health conditions, Leda lived her life to the fullest. Leda loved to smile, and giggle, spreading her happiness and cultivating positivity with whomever she connected with. Leda also enjoyed clapping her feet, making duck noises, and loved ChapStick.

While Leda has passed, her legacy and story will live on, teaching everybody, including parents Kayla and Derek, the story of patience, resilience, compassion, and the courage to advocate. We can all take a page out of Leda’s book, continuing to push forward in life with a smile on our face regardless of the circumstance.

Whenever we are overcome with sadness from missing Leda, may we always remember to have the courage to smile, laugh, and above all, be brave like Leda.

Survivors include her parents; grandparents Steve and Sarajo Pyle of Girard, Kansas; grandparent Rebecca Lykins of Seymour, Indiana; aunt Marissa Lillo of Seymour, Indiana; aunt Hannah and uncle J.J. Meeker of Jay, Oklahoma and their children Sonny, Caroline and Jayne; and uncle Aaron and aunt Morgan Pyle, as well as their kitty Olf, of Joplin, Missouri.

There are no planned services for Leda as she will be cremated. Memorial payments may be sent to Kayla Pyle-Lillo or Derek Lillo at 2320 W. Fountain Drive in Bloomington, Indiana 47404. A foundation has not yet been decided as payments are also to help with cremation costs.
