Lloyd Roger Walsh, 74, of Cherokee, Kansas, died at 3:44 a.m., Sunday, March 16, 2025, in the University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, Kansas.

Roger was born March 25, 1950, at Greenbush, Kansas, a son of Lawrence E. and Winnifred N. (Conner) Walsh. The family moved from Greenbush to Girard, and he graduated from Girard High School in 1968.

Roger entered the US Navy on January 6, 1969, serving in Vietnam before receiving his honorable discharge on January 1, 1972. He served in the US Reserves until January 5, 1975.

He worked as a pressman at Forms Manufacturing Incorporated in Girard for 30 years and at Superior Industries in Pittsburg for 5 years.

Roger enjoyed his family, hunting water fowl and pheasants, raising animals, and taking road trips.

He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Girard, the George C. Brown Post No. 26, American Legion of Girard, the former Steven Bennefeld Post No. 7479 Veterans of Foreign Wars of Girard, now the Brown-Bishop Post. No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Parsons, Kansas.

He was a member for over 30 years of A.A. and went well above and beyond to help anyone struggling with alcohol addiction.

Survivors include his daughter, Ashley Amayo, and her husband, Joseph, of Williamsburg, Kansas; his grandson, Logan Conner Aikins of Pittsburg, his brothers, James Walsh, and his wife, Frona, of Baxter Springs, Keith Walsh of Girard; his sisters, Charolette Winterbower of Hepler, Vickie Billey, and her husband, Ed, of Pittsburg; his sister-in-law, Diana Walsh of Girard; his brother-in-law, Jim Norris of Walnut.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Eddie Walsh; a sister, Charlene Norris, and a brother-in-law, Don Winterbower.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Girard with Fr. Daniel Vacca as Celebrant. Military Honors will be given by the US Navy Funeral Detail.

Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Walnut.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the Rosary begins at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at St. Michael Church.
