Melva Deane Malcolm, 94, of Pittsburg, passed away at 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022, at Via Christi Village.
She was born Jan. 20, 1928, in Pittsburg, Kansas, the daughter of Jesse E. and Leona L. (Talley) Williams. She attended local schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School.
On July 10, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ralph Malcolm at Pittsburg. He preceded her in death on June 26, 2005.
In 1950, she and her husband, along with her late parents, Jesse E. and Leona L. Williams, built and operated the Sunset Motel on Langdon Lane as a partnership.
She attended the First Christian Church.
Survivors include a nephew, Scott Malcolm, his wife, Debbie of Joplin, and close friends, Judy and Carl Wood of Pittsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two nephews, and a niece.
A Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Dustin Morris officiating. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday to sign the register book at the Brenner Mortuary.
