Paul William Mason

Paul William Mason, 82, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on Oct. 25, 2024. He was born to William and Elizabeth (Oehme) Mason in Pittsburg on Nov. 8, 1941.

Paul graduated from St. Mary’s Colgan High School, Class of 1959. He went on to attend Pittsburg State University, where he studied in the machinist vocational program. He dedicated over 35 years of his career as a machinist to McNally Corporation until their closing and then worked as a machinist for Hix Corporation until his retirement.

Paul married his beloved wife, June M. (Arner) Jackson, on Feb. 17, 1968, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. They were married for 56 years. He had a passion for social media and loved connecting with his Facebook friends on his computer, he also cherished memories of drag racing his bronze Chevelle, from his younger years, on city streets and at MoKan Dragway.

Paul is survived by his wife, June, of the home; two children, Corey Mason and his wife Jamie of Mulberry, KS and Julie Engle and her husband Mark of Frontenac, KS; seven grandchildren, Dustin (Jessica) Engle, Marlie (Jordan) Brown, Dayton (Gladys) Engle, McCarly (Justin) Neil, McCade (Caitlin) Mason, Nicholas and Nathan Herrelson; and eight great-grandchildren, Rip and Haze Mason, Kyler, Emmi, Ally, Lily, Koby Brown and Myla Neil. He also leaves behind his loyal “buddy”, Rudy, his labradoodle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jeffery L. Jackson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with Fr. Mike Simone as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. A parish rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, with visitation following until 8 p.m.
