NEOSHO COUNTY, Kan. — A man from Pittsburg was killed in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 59 Highway Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), the crash occurred at approximately 1:38 p.m. on Tuesday at U.S. 59 Hwy. at mile marker 41.1, three-and-one-half miles south of K-47 Hwy.
The KHP stated that a 2014 Victory Motorcycle was traveling southbound on U.S. 59 Hwy. and passed another southbound vehicle. As the motorcycle re-entered the southbound lane, for an unknown reason, the motorcycle lost control which resulted in the driver being ejected. The motorcycle came to rest on the southbound shoulder with the driver in the southbound ditch.
The driver of the motorcycle, 42-year-old Brandon M. Eastwood of Pittsburg, was pronounced dead at the scene. The KHP noted that Eastwood was wearing eye protection but no helmet at the time of the crash.
