Ronald J. Wilbert, 82, of Pittsburg, passed away surrounded by family at his home on Oct. 11, 2022.
Ron was born on April 6, 1940, to Elmer and Josephine (Pinsart) Wilbert in Fort Scott. He married Melva L. Beasley on Sept. 10, 1966, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg. She survives of the home.
Ron graduated from St. Mary's High School with the class of 1958. He worked at Cash Grain for a number of years, also starting Mo-Kan Dragway with his cousin, Jim Wilbert, in 1962. They sold Mo-Kan in 1999, and he ran Wilbert Engraving for many years in Franklin. He loved football and worked the chains for St. Mary's Colgan and Pitt State for numerous decades.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Wendi Piccini (Randy) of Pittsburg, J. D. Wilbert (Lacey) of Pittsburg, Jill Whitworth (Charlie) of Burlington, Kansas, and Matt Wilbert (Leah) of Pittsburg; two brothers, Bob Wilbert (Sherry) of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Dick Wilbert (Karrolyn) of Pittsburg; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A parish rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Brenner Mortuary. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Andrew Labenz as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to the Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund.
