William Wayne Newell, 84, of Haysville, Kansas Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, at Diversicare at Haysville, Kansas.
Mr. Newell was born March 27, 1940, at Mulberry, Kansas, the son of William Howard and Juanita King Newell. Bill retired as a millwright from Allied Signal in Kansas City, Missouri in 2003 after 21 years of employment. He was raised in Mulberry and graduated from Mulberry High School in the Class of 1958. He served in the U.S. Army as an MP serving in Germany. He married Carolyn Toms on May 5, 1961, in Mulberry, Kansas. Bill was an avid hunter, fisherman, and sports fan. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Spring Hill and the Abdhula Shrine at Overland Park, Kansas. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of the home, two sons, Scott (Kendra) Newell of Oak Grove, Missouri, Barry (Sarah) Newell of Wichita and a daughter, Cary Newell, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Erma Jean Bennett.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, at the Rosebank Cemetery at Mulberry, Kansas with Rev. Steve Cole officiating. The family suggests memorials to the Mulberry Funeral Dinner Fund. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 667112.
