The girls were led by first-place finishes from Alesha Edwards in the pole vault, the 4x800 relay team, Page Miller in the 1,600-meter run and Lauren Ouderkirk in the 300-meter hurdles.

Ouderkirk, a sophomore, ran 47.79 to win her event, setting a school record.

Edwards vaulted 7-9, while the 4x800 team put up a time of 10:10.92. Miller ran 5:48.81.

Ouderkirk was also third in the long jump.

McKenzie Spresser was second in the triple jump, with Hunter Powers finishing fifth in the event. Brianna Maxwell was second in the shot put. In the 1600-meter run, Emily Beitzinger took second to Miller, with Hannah Carrier taking fourth.

The Purple Dragons also had three runners score in the 800 meters, with Kristina Willis (second), Miller (third) and Beitzinger (fourth).

Ashley Lewandowski was second in the 200-meter dash, the same place won by Pittsburg’s 4x400 relay team. The 4x100 relay team was third.

Carrier was fourth in the 3,200, while Powers was fifth in the 400. Ashley Willis was fifth in the javelin, with Maxwell sixth in the event.

The Pittsburg boys had five first-place finishes. Keenan Soles was first in the triple jump with a leap of 44-1.5, then nearly hit the school record in the 100-meter dash by running 10.79, though he finished second in that event. Soles was also first in the 200, with a time of 22.25.

Soles finished third in the long jump, with teammate Mason Stewart taking the event with a jump of 22-3.5. Patrick Johnson was first in the pole vault with a mark of 10-6. The 4x100 relay team, which ran 44.26, also finished first.

Stewart was second and Marcus Striplin was fifth in the triple jump. Stewart also finished third in the 100-meter dash, with Connor Menghini taking fourth. Striplin was third in the 300-meter hurdles and fourth in the high jump. Rashawn Davis took third in the 800-meter run.

Both the 4x400 and the 4x800 relay teams took fourth, as did Bryan Mendez in the 3,200.

Pittsburg had the fifth and sixth-place finishers in both the shot put and the javelin. Beau Bennett and Xavier Chappell hit those spots in the shot put, with Kevin Harvey and Blaise Heckert finishing there in the javelin. Juan Medina was fifth in the 1600-meter run.

“I thought we did really well,” said Pittsburg track coach Gary Ausemus. “There were only eight schools there, but it was pretty tough.

“To perform like that in the midseason was great for us,” Ausemus said. “We’re starting to come around. It’s still a few weeks before we have to peak, and as long as we stay away from major injuries, we should be in a good spot.”

The Purple Dragons will next compete in Girard on Friday.
