Pittsburg senior McKenzi Lee signed her national letter of intent Wednesday afternoon to continue her academic and dance career at the next level with Washburn in Topeka.
“It was really exciting to be surrounded by all the people that got to watch me do what I love for the last 15 years,” Lee said. “High school dance team has always been fun for me, as well as competitive dance, and it was nice that I was able to have both those groups together so they could watch me sign to do what I love.
“I definitely wasn’t ready for my dance journey to be over yet, so I’m glad that I get to do that for hopefully another four years, but at least another one.
“I liked Washburn because it was semi-close to home. I have younger siblings and family’s a big thing for me and there’s a lot of people that I love who live here in Pittsburg. I want to be able to come back as much as I can and overall, it’s just a great school. Not too big, not too small, kinda just perfect.
“I am most excited to learn new things and meet new people. The connections with the people here are incredible, but moving to a new city is going to be exciting and hopefully, I meet a lot of new great people while also still coming back here to see the people that I love.”
