Betty L. Peak, 76, of Neosho, Missouri, formerly of Girard, died at 2:08 p.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2024 in Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Betty was born August 12, 1947 in Girard, a daughter of Albert L. and Lois (Wright) May. She grew up and attended schools in Girard and graduated from Girard High School in 1965.
She married Richard Peak on August 12, 1966 in St. Michael’s Church in Girard. Richard preceded her in death on November 17, 2023.
She worked as a dental assistant for 14 years and at Ace Form and Print Excell, both of Girard.
She owned and operated Peak Printing in Girard from 1990 until 1999 before retiring in 2011.
Betty was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Girard and she enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother, reading, and traveling.
Survivors include her son, Ronald A. Peak, and his wife, Lorna, of Chanute; her daughter, Erika D. Calkins, and her husband, Duff, of Neosho; her grandchildren Brittnee (Brad) Leitch, Zakary Pride, MacKynze (Brenden) Keepper, Ashley (Dalton) Stalder, Tracey (Dakota) Gibbens, Duff Jr. (Nicole) Calkins, Jessy (Nik) Merriman, Lucas Calkins, Bodee Calkins, Dawson Peak, Griffin (Kaitlyn) Cooper, Faith Cooper, Ashton Cooper; her great-grandsons Benson (Mr. Gorgeous) and A.J. Leitch; her sisters Rebecca Koroush, and her husband, Jody, of Duneweg, Missouri and Leslie Jones of Pittsburg; her brothers-in-law Jeff (Tracie) Peak of Girard and James (Kathy) Peak of Girard; her sister-in-law Marilyn Meck of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
In addition to her husband, Richard, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Ronnie May, James May, David May, and Michael Jones.
Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2024 at the Fort Scott National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kansas with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating.
Service arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
