PITTSBURG, Kan. — Next Friday, Jan. 6, the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a legislative sendoff at Pittsburg State University’s Wilkinson Alumni Center for area lawmakers before they head off to Topeka to begin their new terms.

Tickets for the event, which is scheduled to run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., are $15 and must be purchased in advance by either calling the chamber or registering online at pittsburgareachamber.com.

“The event provides an opportunity for our business community to meet with area legislators before the 2023 legislative session begins on Jan. 9,” said Chamber president Blake Benson. “Legislators can give their thoughts on what they feel will be the most significant issues of the upcoming session and receive immediate feedback.”

According to Benson, Representatives Chuck Smith (R-Pittsburg) and Ken Collins (R-Mulberry) have confirmed they will be in attendance, while Senators Richard Hilderbrand (R-Baxter Springs) and Caryn Tyson (R-Parker) have been invited but not confirmed they will be there as of Thursday.
