Rob Spencer, who was born and raised in the Barton and Vernon County areas of Missouri and has local family ties, was named one of 32 Global Medical Response (GMR) Stars of Life.
The Stars of Life program honors EMS first responders who have completed extraordinary acts of service for their patients, colleagues, communities, or the EMS profession. Honorees from across the country will be recognized at the American Ambulance Association (AAA) Stars of Life Awards Ceremony, in Washington, D.C. from Nov. 5 through Nov. 8.
“This award is among the highest honors an EMS professional can receive,” said Byron Sedlacek, operations manager at GMR. “Rob was instrumental in the rescue of a young boy who suffered a traumatic injury after a devastating accident. What makes his story more extraordinary is that Rob had lost his own child six years prior, but despite his own personal loss he is now even more dedicated to saving lives.”
Spencer currently lives in Temple, Texas, where he is a Paramedic Field Training Officer with American Medical Response (AMR), and says he is honored to be recognized as one of the 2023 Stars of Life.
“I appreciate being selected for this recognition,” Spencer said. “I am dedicated to providing the best possible care on every call and am so grateful this young man was able to recover from his injuries.”
Each GMR Star of Life represents an incredible story of service and dedication in every area of the EMS industry and is selected by their peers in an extensive nomination process.
