Frank Joseph Smardo, 88, of Pittsburg, Kansas died at 2:04 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2024 at the home of his son and daughter-in-law John C. and Marilyn Smardo in Franklin, Kansas.
Mr. Smardo was born September 27, 1935 in Arma, Kansas the son of John and Mary Weiss Smardo. Frank was a supervisor at Dickey Clay and Mission Clay for 31 years. He was raised in Pittsburg and graduated from Pittsburg High School in the Class of 1953. He later attended Pittsburg State University for 2 years.
He lived in Pittsburg most of his life.
He served in the United States Air Force for 4 years.
He married Kaylynn Motsinger on December 26, 1958 in Miami, Oklahoma. Mrs. Smardo survives at the home.
He was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church at Girard, Flatlanders CB Club, and was a Ham Radio operator.
Survivors include his wife, Kaylynn of the home; a daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Smardo of the home; a son, John C. (Marilyn) Smardo of Franklin; two grandchildren, Rebecca (Becky) David Vineyard of Weir and Brian (Ashley) Smardo of Arma; and five great-grandchildren, Kimberlynn and Cody Vineyard, and Hailey, Riley, and Kylee Smardo.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m.. Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the Frontenac City Cemetery with Pastor Mike Buckamneer officiating. Friends may call 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma.
