John Leroy Sullivan

John Leroy Sullivan, age 64, of Scammon, died on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.

He was born on May 23, 1958, in Joplin, Missouri, the son of John Aaron and Josephine Jane (Golden) Sullivan.

Johnny was a high school graduate from Wyandotte High in Wyandotte, Oklahoma. He worked as a chef for many years. He enjoyed being outdoors, music, and visiting family and friends. He loved living the grand lake life and raising his children there.

On Jan. 7, 1978, he was united in marriage to Cathy Austin in Miami, Oklahoma. She resides at their home in Scammon.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor and constant teasing. One of his greatest joys in life was becoming a Papa. His granddaughters will always cherish the memories of getting to take a ride on papa's scooter chair.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy, of the home; mother, Josephine Sullivan; four children, Shasta Littlefield and husband Jeremy of Afton, Oklahoma, Jen Sullivan-Halloran of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Joe Sullivan and wife Courtney of Jones, Oklahoma, Kandice Peak and husband Kevin of Scammon; six grandchildren: Keira Littlefield, Cadence Sullivan, Ally Sullivan, Taylor Halloran, Kaitlyn Peak, and Ella Littlefield; brother, James Sullivan of Wyandotte, Oklahoma; two sisters, Carol Arnold and husband Charly of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, and Cindy Hord and husband Dan of Joplin; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends, beloved pet Ruby, and Kitty Kitty.

He is preceded in death by his father, John Sullivan.
