Kelcy Hurst, 62, died Saturday, February 10 after a brief battle with cancer.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in her honor this coming Saturday, February 17 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Frisco Freight Event Center at 210 E. 4th St. in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Kelcy was born on June 17, 1961 in Pittsburg as the third and youngest child of Patsy and Ted Hurst. Her childhood was full of the kind of excitement and adventure only a small town can provide – best friends, seances, shenanigans. After graduating high school, Kelcy attended Pitt State for a couple of years before following her heart and finding her true passion: Caregiving for animals and people alike brought Kelcy the most joy. Other passions included thrifting for a good deal and conversing with strangers.
In death, Kelcy is lived on by a world full of family, including her parents; her siblings Rick Hurst and Tracy Colcher (Hurst), as well as Lori Patton, Jacquelyne Pierce, and Darren Barley; and her children Jordan Eichhorn and Parker Matthews, as well as Loren Ray (Kutz), Brad Quader, Dakota Lloyd, Josh Jarvis, Jeremy Lawson, and Mirna Peralta – Kelcy believed Family is what you make it.
