Linda Sue (Mullins) Frihart, 83, passed away peacefully at Ascension Via Christi Village, early in the morning of January 28, 2024.
Born August 24, 1940 in Oklahoma City, OK, Linda was the middle daughter of Chester Delmas and Elizabeth Ejvor (Johnson) Mullins. Linda graduated from Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City and attended the University of Oklahoma.
As a young woman, she worked in several professional positions including assisting the Director of Mental Health Care for the State of Oklahoma and at the Mental Health Association of Oklahoma.
Linda married the love of her life Dale Frihart on December 31, 1977. They remained married until his death in 1998 and she remained in love until she left to join him.
Linda fully embraced her life in Pittsburg and made many, many friends at PSU and within the greater community. She was very active with several organizations, serving as a volunteer and/or officer of The First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg, the Mental Health Association of Crawford County, the Mt. Carmel Auxiliary, the Friends of the Library (Pittsburg Public Library), Past President of the Friday Study Club, the Little Balkans Quilt Guild, and the PPL Foundation. She loved attending recitals and concerts at the Bicknell Center and going to the theater and opera in Kansas City. She traveled everywhere, it seems, to go to quilt shows, fabric shops and anywhere she might find that must have fabric even if there was not any more room in the house.
Survivors include Doug and Sheila Frihart of Manhattan, Brian and Bren Frihart of Belle Vista, AR, Mike Frihart and Paula Dupree of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Amanda (Mike) Sloane, Ashley Frihart, Nathan (Brittany) Frihart, Jordan (Chelsey) Frihart and Allision (Carson) Gentry; great-grandchildren, Dani and Avery Sloane, Jeremy Turnage (Halie Bruce), Adelynn and Claire Frihart; great-great-grandchild, Bennett Turnage; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Linda also leaves behind many Pittsburg friends including Darlene Maclaren, Lura Patrick, AnnDee Peterson, Susan Ward, Susan Knell, Laura Klusener, and many others.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband and parents; sisters, Joan and Carol; brother-in-law, Tom Haines; niece, Elizabeth Haines; and nephew, Tom Haines.
Linda chose to be cremated with her ashes mixed with Dale's. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Brenner Mortuary Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in Linda's honor may be made to the Mental Health Association of Crawford County, Mother to Mother Ministry of Pittsburg, or the Pittsburg State University Foundation for a scholarship in Dale and Linda's name.
